“I use iTerm, but you can open your terminal and then you just paste it in, press enter, and I already have Homebrew and some dependencies installed. And so it's going to install OpenClaw and then it should drop you into a step- by-step onboarding.”

“While I don't recommend people edit the soul by hand, it's sometimes really useful to edit the tools document by hand because there's just some nuances in how you might want it to read your calendar or search the web, or I use Linear as tasking kind of substrate for my agents, how you might want it to use Linear. And so the tools markdown file is a really useful one.”

“One, because they're really hardened against prompt injection and some security risks out of the box, and, two, you're just going to get a better experience. So I use a lot of Opus 4.6, Sonnet 4.6 and GPT-5.4.”

“Yeah, I was thinking about this, and I'm going to talk about a category of books that I've started to recommend to people, which is classic children's books. If you are a parent out there, you know there's so much children's book slop out there, graphic novels with like seven words per page, the writing's atrocious. Even in the older years, it doesn't get better. And we've just started pulling off the shelf Treasure Island. We are reading Alice in Wonderland. We're reading some of the Shakespearean comedies. The language is so much more sophisticated, and my kids still get it, and they still think it's funny. And so I feel like we have dumbed down what we expect of our children, especially in what they consume from a media perspective. And so I'm just going to the classics and we're having a really good time. So I highly recommend pulling some of those classic children's books off the shelf. Even if they feel a little bit more advanced, my kids have been loving them.”

“It's basically a vacation. I saw Poor Things, which if you like capital W weird capital A art, highly recommend Poor Things. The show that I recommend to people, I love Mythic Quest. Everybody references Silicon Valley, but Mythic Quest gets at some of, I was in gaming once, gets at some of my experiences in the technology organizations.”

“High Growth Handbook I love, and I like Scaling People. These are two books that the reason why I recommend them to people is because they have solid playbook answers to 80%, 90% of everyday leadership scaling people questions. And so they're just great reference books for what I think great leadership inside startups can look like, and they solve some of the things that you don't need to solve novel-ly. And then one on the fiction side that I've been recommending is Circe, which is a retelling of Circe's story from her perspective. It's a great read, and everybody I've recommended it to really loves it.”

“I feel like I'm using these things that I built, and that sense of crafting your personal agent experience, as opposed to giving your tasks to a general purpose agent, I think just changes the user agent interaction in a very interesting way.”

“And what I mean is in most, at least in the stage I operate in in startups and growth stage companies and late stage startups, organizations are very fluid and I like to organize around talented motivated individuals. And so just because we're organized in a particular way now, just because these organizations are separate or these are different, together, doesn't mean that's necessarily the way they have to be, and so you should think about your career growth in the existing structure of the organization.”

“I tend to come in and love this, hate it, it's what I do, which is if I look at an organization that is operating at a lower pace than I would expect, I communicate to my leaders that my expectation is they bring in the clock speed one click faster, which means if you think something needs to be done this year, it needs to be done this half.”

“I'm not going to relay it in precision, but one of the tactics that I've seen out there is basically go through your calendar for the last month or quarter, whatever it is, write everything down, and basically group them into, I hated doing this, I didn't love doing it but it was fine, I love doing this, and then I love doing this, and if I could spend all my time on this, I would be the happiest person in the whole world.”
