…Yes. Well, what’s a good example? I think that maybe it’s more that the challenge of policy is, you are building a bureaucracy for an alien that arrives at some point in the future that you don’t know the shape of and which may, upon the moment of its arrival, be far smarter and more capable than you. So, you don’t know if this is just an insane exercise to do. I oscillate between being a, “Hey, we should build all of these institutions so that we can measure stuff and see what happens and be able to take responses,” to a cyberpunk accelerationist where, actually, we just need companies to create benefits as quickly as possible, and then the system will figure out how to deal with that. I find this to be a crazy-making thing I’m trapped inside. I suspect we’re stuck with the latter, even if we don’t prefer it.…
