The only way they could get the price down far enough to hit the price point they wanted to retail was to place a three million unit order upfront, which was crazy at the time. It was three million units over two years. They couldn't make them fast enough. They sold out the whole thing. It was incredible. Nintendo got so lucky that the Japanese market wasn't saturated the same way that the US market was. They launched into the very best conditions in Japan they could have, frankly not a lot of competitive consoles at that moment.…
