…Yes, sure. The other thing is, there is, I feel like, a large cultural message that you’re not going to understand yourself if you don’t go travel in some way, and because of the ubiquity of that message, especially in the US and in other Western societies. I have friends who have gone to study in Europe. It’s very pushed as an idea there. Part of me wonders if you actually are happier because you can at least say that you have fulfilled that cultural norm. [laughter] You don’t get embarrassed by saying, “I don’t have a passport,” or “I’ve never been out of the country.” Maybe it’s harder to understand yourself if you travel a lot in a good way, perhaps, but you might rather have more questions than answers.
