…Like millions of other people, I was completely captivated by the quartet, the Brilliant Friend, in ways in which I almost haven’t been since childhood reading. I’m nervous to go back and read those books because I had the most intense, immersive experience with them. Then I read her other shorter fiction, and I think she is an amazing. I’m reading her in translation, obviously, by the way. But she’s a terrific writer. She reflects upon language, the power of language. Deeply, deeply feminist.
