Speaking for myself here, I will say that I find that I’m not very compelled by life extension research for the exact reason you’ve said. I think that it is really cool, really f-cking cool, but I’m not sure it’s the most pressing problem for the world. As you said, we’ve been getting on okay without it. There are real human costs to it. It would be great to have, but I don’t think it’s necessary for the flourishing of the world. On the birth subsidy side, there are a lot of things you can do to try to influence population rates up or down. I actually want to look into that a little bit more and develop a more refined opinion on it. I will say that at some point, feedback mechanisms might start kicking in. At some point, you might have some births replacing others. At some point, you have to think hard about the factors in both directions there, and what does it do to international coordination? I don’t know the answer to this. I will say that whenever companies start to get bigger, they become a sh-tshow.
