…The goal is not productivity. The goal is long-term steady returns and resilience. I think Warren and Charlie got this very early and there's a lot of science behind that math, but they don't need that. They're so good with folksy wisdom. The other thing that hit me of course was a company's not going to have half their employees sitting around doing nothing. Just as a fun thought experiment, what if a company only was growing at half the growth rate of a high-growth company, but it's a marathon, not a sprint? They could do that over 40–50 years, instead of thinking in these 5- and 10-year time horizons. Do you have any good anecdotes on, ‘I know you have this firm belief that hyper growth is bad and actually slow. Very long-term compounding growth is the real Holy Grail’?…
