Yes. Much ink has been spilled on that front. But suffice to say, that Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum (the forgotten Facebook founder), Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. A whole bunch of stuff happened, including turning down several acquisition offers along the way. Most notably, a $1 billion acquisition offer by Yahoo in 2006, just when the company was 2 years old, sort of foreshadowing Instagram in years to come.
