…Yes. He was the man for sure. Why do so few women go into neurosurgery? This surprised me when I learned it from your book. The numbers are going up. Women are actually doing better. They’re now at maybe 10 percent. I think we expect them to be at about 30 percent in a few years. It’s a very demanding career. As you know women often are focused on childbirth and having the freedom to raise their children in the way they want to raise them. Neurosurgery doesn’t always allow a woman to do that. But depending on how you want to run your life and what you want to do, obviously . . . I know many women who are neurosurgeons and have children, and they’re wonderful mothers to their children. They may not have four or five children. They may have one or two children, just to have the time. But I think that is a limitation, to know that you’re not going to be there as much as you may want to be for your children.…
