In the press conference, Don Keough says, “Some critics will say that Coca-Cola made a marketing mistake. Some cynic will say that we planned the whole thing. The truth is, we are not that dumb and we are not that smart.” I don’t know. It all seems pretty dumb to me. The crazy thing is they thought when they introduced Coca-Cola Classic that that would be the product for the diehards, for this vocal minority that was really upset about it. In practice, what happened is everyone went back to Coca-Cola Classic and nobody stayed on New Coke. Its market share was 3%.…
