…But am I wrong in thinking a kind of Coasian argument applies — that there are gains from trade, there won’t be much future conflict, they speak the English language. They’re a member of either the UK or the EU or, under some scenarios, both. And it will just be the world’s biggest boom area, say, 10, 15 years from now. Why is that wrong? I don’t necessarily think it is wrong, other than the fact that, right now, the economy is about 85 percent government. So unless there is some sort of private investment, then it’s going to be a government-run . . . essentially an economy funded from mainland Britain. So I’m just not sure it has the dynamism yet. But tourism’s increasing, and like you say, it’s a very pleasant place with a lot of advantages. Why isn’t there more private investment?…
