…How close do you think we are to the ultimate fundamental limits on human performance in running? I don’t know. I think in a global sense, that’s what the ultrarunning is all about. Certainly, at the top level, it’s looking for what are the limits. We’re learning that people can learn and adapt to become better. Then there’s this ability of the mind to drive the body beyond what seems to be physically possible. Who knows where the real limit lies? If we look at all sports as a whole, what is the individual sports performance record that impresses you the most?
