…I watched a lot of Abbott and Costello as a kid because my father did, but I have to say I never found it funny. I think you can see roots of Larry David in Abbott and Costello, and that I find interesting, but no, it’s unwatchable. Like “Who’s on first?” It’s just not funny. Laurel and Hardy — there’s a bit. W.C. Fields, The Bank Dick, I like better. Charlie Chaplin, I like better. Buster Keaton, I like better. Most early comedy, I don’t love, and I think that tells us something about the nature of comedy. I’m an Abbott and Costello guy. I think I watched the most of that. I think some of that holds up. Others — maybe not so much. The best movie is with Frankenstein and the Wolf Man.…
