…If we want to make it easier to redo Queens and we have more due process, aren’t those two things at odds against each other? They are at odds at one another. I would say, though, having one person decide the taste for the whole city is also probably not the best use of time. Of course, it’s a balance between the two. As you know, one of my big focuses is reducing regulation, reducing administrative burden where it doesn’t make sense, but keeping it where it does make sense. I think, as an example, parks and highway systems — having some thought as to where they go is very logical. Now, sometimes I hear from my right-leaning New York City–skeptical friends that the city relies heavily, fiscally, on some quite small number of taxpayers. Sometimes the number 200 is cited, and that if some fraction of them left, everything would fall apart. Is that true, not true?…
