…It's nice because you then have the right answer, and then you can train on all but the current word and try to predict the current word. It's this amazing ability to just learn from observations of the world. And then it's AI complete. If you can do a great job of that, then you can pretty much do anything. It does feel like it's in the air. There were definitely some, there was like the neural Turing machine, a bunch of ideas around attention, like having these key-value stores that could be useful in neural networks to focus on things. I think in some sense, it was in the air, and in some sense, you need some group to go do it. I like to think of a lot of ideas as being partially in the air, where there are a few different, maybe separate research ideas that one is squinting at when you’re trying to solve a new problem. You draw on those for some inspiration, and then there's some aspect that is not solved, and you need to figure out how to solve that. The combination of some morphing of the things that already exist and some new things lead to some new breakthrough or new research result that didn't exist before.…
