…Right, but someone who has some background in looking at the visual arts. In my experience, artists are both more patient and more impatient than the nonartist in a museum setting. I am so impatient. I do not want to linger in front of things that don’t interest me. I don’t care who made them. I don’t care what time frame they were made in. The incredible backstory of how that thing ended up in the museum just couldn’t interest me less. I just want the visual hit of that adrenaline rush of some visual piece of interior feeling, knowledge, insight, and without it, I’m gone. When I find it, I can stay in front of a painting for hours. People of sensibility would long since have moved on. What do you think is the biggest thing wrong with leading American museums today?…
