I think that in the same way that in our modern, hopefully still pre-apocalyptic world, some people are content to live their entire lives in their hometowns, while others get out, really, as soon as they possibly can, and that was me. I think some people can live quite happily in a very small, probably inevitably insular community in your postapocalyptic wasteland. Whereas others would be like, “If I have to look at these same 300 people in the same place for one more day, I’m going to go crazy.” I think those are the people who would start wandering.
